FUNCTIONAL CHECKOUT

A new CyberAmp 380 should be subjected to a functional checkout to ensure the proper functioning

of the instrument. All units are burned-in and thoroughly tested at the factory before shipping. If any

shipping damage or problems with the functional checkout are observed, please call the factory.

For the initial checkout, the CyberAmp 380 should be situated on a benchtop away from other

equipment. Do not install in a rack until the checkout is complete. Make sure that the power is OFF.

Disconnect all probes.

Equipment required:

• Oscilloscope

• One BNC cable

• Computer with one free serial port

• CyberAmp software

• Null-modem RS-232 cable

1) Load the CMD300 software from the CyberAmp software CD supplied with the CyberAmp.

Those familiar with DOS should copy the CMD300.EXE file into a directory called CMD300

and change to that directory. Those unfamiliar with DOS should see the CMD300 Control

Software chapter on page 65 for instructions on this installation.

Alternatively, the CyberControl program can be used in a Windows or Macintosh

environment. The sequence of steps are the same, and the commands usage should be fairly

intuitive. See the CyberControl Software chapter on page 83 for instructions on installation.

2) Check the line voltage selection at the rear of the instrument. Change if necessary. (See the

Supply Voltage section on page 19).

3) Connect the "RS-232 IN" connector on the rear panel of the CyberAmp 380 to the computer

serial port.

4) Switch on the computer and the CyberAmp. Either one can be switched on first.

5) Run CMD300 by typing:

CMD300 INITIALIZE STATUS

(Note, all commands should be terminated by

pressing <Enter>.)

The computer will ask:

To which serial port is the CyberAmp connected? 1•COM1, 2•COM2,

3•COM3, 4•COM4

Type in the number corresponding to the serial port. If unsure of the serial port number, try

each number sequentially.
